Gun control advocates across the country including Senator Angus King (I-ME) are demanding that legislation be passed that limits magazine capacity to 10 rounds. They don’t feel civilians have a need for high capacity magazines. I can respect their opinion, I can even have a civilized debate with them about it, but I cannot agree on it.
It should bother you that individuals within our government are stating “civilians have no need” when speaking about something that pertains to a RIGHT. If those same individuals were saying “civilians have no need for freedom of speech” or “civilians have no need for privacy” there would be anarchy in the streets.
You must remember the 2nd Amendment was AFFIRMED not granted by the very first government of the United States to ensure that the people had adequate arms to defend themselves against tyranny by the government. The same tyranny that they fought against when the British began conducting warrantless searches and seizures of arms from the colonists and militias that led to our independence.
Some feel the Bill of Rights is antiquated and that as a civilized society we no longer have to live in fear of a tyrannical government. In fact those same people feel we should leave every aspect of our safety both foreign and domestic in the hands of the government. These people fail to realize that every fallen nation and empire was thought to be a civilized society at the time of their demise. The more power they placed in the hands of their government, the less freedom they enjoyed.
Modern day America suffers from Stockholm Syndrome. Too many citizens place too much trust in the government. They believe that government at all times has our best interest at heart. They fail to realize that freedom is but one generation away from extinction at all times. It is our job to ensure the government toes the line and remains a body of the people and for the people.
You’re probably wondering by now what this all has to do with high capacity magazines. Well I hate to upset some of those firearm hating individuals but it has everything to do with it. On the sole basis that the 2nd Amendment’s inherent purpose is to protect the populace from a tyrannical government one has to question, if the “civilians have no need” for high capacity magazines then why do law enforcement and the military have a need for them? Now I’m not advocating the 10 round limit for everyone including law enforcement and the military. In fact I staunchly oppose any such move. I’m simply stating that if high capacity magazines serve a purpose for those in authority, then civilians most definitely have a need for them in order to maintain the balance of peace, not war.
I understand that the US military has far more superior weapons than AR-15s with 30 round magazines. I also understand that if the government became tyrannical the odds of successfully defending ourselves against the government would be extremely low. That in itself is the basis of my argument. The citizens of this country should fight tooth and nail to protect the one thing that would at least give us a fighting chance. Rather than voluntarily surrender our freedom for a false sense of security we should be standing united against any such move to degrade our defenses.
There will always be evil people in this world that choose to commit heinous acts of violence. We can’t allow that evil to win by attacking the rights of others to fight back against those people. The government telling us that we don’t need high capacity magazines is like the NFL telling the Patriots they only get two downs when they play, but all their opponents still get the usual four.
If you are one of the people who wholeheartedly believes that we have nothing to fear from our government I urge you to simply look across the globe. Those with limited rights are not free. Many are in a constant state of civil war. There is no incentive for a government to do right by their people when they have total control over their population. No matter how advanced and civilized a society may be, there is always the need for the right of the people to keep and bear arms. Not necessarily to fight against the government on the battlefield but rather to maintain the balance of harmony that makes America the only true free nation in the world.

Lawmakers Taking Another Crack at Expanding Gun Checks
By KEVIN FREKING Associated Press
WASHINGTON - Former congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords is returning to Capitol Hill on Wednesday to help kick-start a longshot campaign to expand criminal background checks to all commercial firearms sales.
Similar legislation that sought to expand background checks failed to get a hearing in the House last session. With the GOP expanding its majority and winning control of the Senate, prospects for the bill may be even more unlikely this session.
Still, Democratic Rep. Mike Thompson of California predicted the legislation would pass if GOP leadership would let it come to the House floor for a vote. Congress passed record funding for background checks in the last session, he said.
"If they are willing to fund the system at historic levels, they should support using the system," Thompson said.
Under the current system, cashiers at stores selling guns call in to check with the FBI or other designated agencies to ensure the customer doesn't have a criminal background. Many lawmakers want to expand such checks to sales at gun shows and purchases made through the Internet.
The National Rifle Association opposes expanding background checks. The organization says many people sent to prison because of gun crimes get their guns through theft or the black market, and no amount of background checks can stop those criminals. The group attributed the effort on Capitol Hill to New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who has worked to impose stricter background checks in several states.
"If Bloomberg and his supporters were serious about solving underlying problems, they would work to reform our broken mental health system, not attack the rights of America's 100 million gun owners," said Chris Cox, executive director of the NRA's lobbying arm.
While Congress has declined to pass expanded background checks for firearm purchases, five states have done so since the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings in December 2012. They are Washington, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware and New York, according to the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.
Giffords and Kelly, a former NASA space shuttle commander, founded Americans for Responsible Solutions. The organization advocates for stricter gun laws. They are both scheduled to be at the news conference with Thompson and a handful of other lawmakers on Wednesday. The Arizona Democrat has become an increasingly active player in the gun-control movement since being shot in the head as she met with constituents in Tucson nearly four years ago.
The legislation that ushered in background checks for guns bought from federal licensed dealers was named after James Brady, the press secretary to President Ronald Reagan who was shot in the head in 1981 and died last year.
"We fought a long, hard battle to pass the Brady Bill with bipartisan support in 1993 and now we simply need to finish the job!" said Sarah Brady, co-founder of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.

US Seeks to Ban 5.56mm/.223-Caliber Ammo
WASHINGTON, DC -- The Obama administration is considering banning a type of ammunition used in one of the most popular types of rifles because it says the bullets can pierce a police officer's protective vest when fired from a handgun.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is proposing the ban of some types of 5.56 mm rounds - or .223-caliber - used in widely available and popular AR-15-style rifles because the bullets can also be used in some new types of handguns. Other types of 5.56 mm rounds would still be legal to buy, own and fire from guns.
The rule change would affect only "M855 green tip" or "SS109" rounds with certain types of metal cores. People who already own the ammunition would be allowed to continue to legally own it, but manufacturers would not be allowed to produce, sell, import or distribute it.
In a letter to ATF Director B. Todd Jones last month, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., objected to the rule change, saying it would "interfere with Second Amendment rights by disrupting the market for ammunition that law-abiding Americans use for sporting and other legitimate purposes."
Armor-piercing handgun ammunition has been banned since 1986 as a way to protect police officers under the federal Law Enforcement Officers Protection Act. The rifle bullets now facing a ban were long considered exempt because they were used for sporting purposes, such as target shooting.
An ATF spokeswoman, Ginger Colbrun, said Monday the agency is considering eliminating the exemption now because of the production of so-called AR pistols that can fire the same cartridge. The agency is accepting public comment about the proposed change until March 16 at the email address APACommentsatf.gov, by fax or postal mail. Colbrun said it's unclear when a final decision will be made.
At issue is the material in the core of the bullets. As long as the bullet's core does not contain particular types of metal, including steel, iron or brass, the bullet would still be legally available.
Colbrun said 32 manufacturers make roughly 168 types of ammunition that can be used in the rifles and would remain legal.
The semi-automatic AR-15 rifle, a commercially available gun that resembles the military's M-16 rifle, has become wildly popular among gun enthusiasts in recent years. It's also been the target of Democratic lawmakers who sought to ban the weapons after the 2012 shooting deaths of a dozen people at a movie theater in Colorado and 20 children and six adults at a school in Connecticut. Those efforts failed, but gun rights advocates, including the National Rifle Association, warned that the administration would continue a push to ban the popular guns.
NRA Institute for Legislative Action Executive Director Chris W. Cox said Tuesday "the NRA and our tens of millions of supporters across the country will fight to stop President Obama's latest attack on our Second Amendment freedoms."
ATF's proposed ammunition ban has been under consideration since 2011.

Even Gun Control Advocates Think Bloomberg Has Gone Too Far
It looks as though New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's, Mayor's Against Illegal Guns is turning off some of it's members, causing them to leave the group. Many of whom are citing their dissatisfaction with the groups abandonment of it's mission of going after illegal guns and rather attacking lawmakers who support gun rights.
I suppose there is hope that some of the blinded will find the light and see what this lunatic is trying to do to this country, as well as the constitution. Bloomberg has never been a friend of guns. His policies and position have been made clear time and time again through his actions. Despite New York City's strict gun laws, the city still has some of the highest gun violence rates in the country. Now I know we will never ever be able to persuade this guy any different, but those of us that use our own heads and not politicians' know the real reason for this. It sure isn't because law abiding gun owners are turning into crazed monsters hell bent on shooting sprees. No, it's because of the lack of enforcement, lack of prosecution, and the black market. Criminals get guns no matter what the law is. Gun control is a pacifier for the ignorant. It gives people a sense of false security and only prevents good people from getting guns.Mayor Bloomberg's mission is to take away our God given right and he won't settle for anything less.
More guns in the hands of law abiding citizens prevent crime. Wake up Bloomberg and don't tread on our Second Amendment rights. I hope your group of zombies crashes and burns, because in the end no politician has more authority than the United States Constitution.

My Take on The George Zimmerman Case
It isn't about black or white, and it most definately isn't about hate. The George Zimmerman trial was a very low point in our criminal justice system. A man who set out to help protect his gated community from a rash of burglaries fell victim to an unfortunate situation that led to the death of a 17 year old black teen.
A case that has headlined the news for well over a year, there weren't many American's who hadn't at least heard about the case. Now that the trial has finished and the verdict of not guilty has been read, protestors all over the country are struggling to make sense of everything. Unfortunately, the majority of these people suffer from a lack of information.
Gone are the days of innocent until proven guilty. Thanks to the media and their terrible reporting, too many people declared Zimmerman finished before the trial even began. However if you had followed the case from start to finish. Listened to the evidence and the facts. One could not conclude that this was an instance of racial profiling that led to second degree murder. In fact it was so bad, that I have to wonder why the prosecution even charged Zimmerman. The media fueled rage and that pressure forced the prosecutions hand.
It is a god given right of all American's to be able to protect and defend themselves against the imminant threat of serious bodily harm. Zimmerman, although foolish for following Martin, found himself on the receiving end of a vicious assault. With his head being smashed into the pavement and fearing for his life he made a decision that nobody who carries a firearm wants to make, he drew his weapon and fired a shot that proved fatal for Trayvon Martin.
Some say Zimmerman racially profiled Trayvon because he was black, but he did nothing different then anyone else would do given the circumstances. A gated community that had suffered from numerous break ins by African American persons, one would be foolish to look the other way if they saw someone fitting the description walking through their streets late at night. Had the suspect of the break ins been white, and Zimmerman followed and defended himself against a white person would we standing here today even discussing this? No. The power of the NAACP to make mountains out of mole hills and fuel animosity between the races is sickening. It is 2013, not 1960. Racism still exists, but not to the extent the NAACP would like you to believe.
The justice system worked the way it was designed during this case and an innocent man was set free. It is unfortunate that Trayvon Martin is not with us, but it was he, and he alone that made the decision to turn a peaceful situation into a violent one. Had he just kept walking, none of this would have happened. George Zimmerman excercised his Second Amendment right and that is the only thing he is guilty of.
The federal government is now looking at whether it should charge Zimmerman with federal hate crimes. A huge display of grasping for straws, especially by Eric Holder whose department is guilty of letting thousands of firearms illegally cross the border into Mexico that later were used to kill both Mexican and Americans alike. I say the feds have no right sticking their noses in this case, just like they have no right sticking their fingers in my gun safe.

Is Anybody Paying Attention?
In today's world and the existing state of American politics, nothing surprises me anymore. However when I discovered that the Obama Administration had concluded Syria's government had used chemical weapons against the rebels who are fighting President Assad's forces and would begin providing them with weapons I was dumbfounded.
Politicians, mostly democratic, fight tooth and nail day after day, year after year to pull the noose tighter and tighter around the necks of law abiding gun owners here in the United States. Bill after repetitive bill is introduced to make it more difficult for able bodied American's to exercise their Second Amendment rights. If Obama feels that a group of Muslims with ties to Al Qaeda, a group who has shown has no love for this country, have a right to defend themselves and overthrow their government, then why do we as American's have to fight with every ounce of energy to simply own a firearm to rightfully defend ourselves and our families?
Our government has everything so backwards it is unbelievable. Our President has more compassion for people from terrorist nations then he does the very people who he was elected to represent.
We as a people need to really take a step back and look at what this Administration has done to our country in the past 5 years. Not just in regards to attempted gun control legislation but the whole picture. We need to stop electing people like Barack Obama and start thinking for ourselves. If you spend more time watching MTV then you do reading unbiased news stories then you should be scared. The United States is becoming a fire pit for liberals to burn what's left of the constitution.
I am embarrassed that a country who tried to impeach a president for having an affair and lying about it has now bent over backwards to cover up the sins of a dictator in training. IRS, NSA, Benghazi? Obamacare was the biggest government overstep in the history of this nation. If you think that is the end of it, think again. The liberals aren't done attacking your gun rights. Stand up and fight, join a group like the NRA and show your politicians you won't stand for it.

TX Man Transporting Unloaded Firearms Through NJ Doing 3-5 Years in Prison
A TX man, who was in the process of moving to Maine, made a very simple mistake, and never made it to his hew home. Dustin Reininger is serving a 3-5 year prison sentence in the Garden State because he made a mistake, he stopped to take a nap in NJ during his multi day drive from Texas to Maine.
Police approached Reininger’s car when he was taking a nap near a bank in Readington, NJ.
Police then searched the suspect’s vehicle after seeing gun cases laying in the back seat and found the man’s personal gun collection, which was being transported in the car. This included 14 rifles, 4 shotguns and 3 handguns along with hollow point ammunition (which is extremely illegal in NJ). Reininger was arrested, convicted and sentenced to 5 years in prison, with a chance for parole after 3.
Reininger would not have been arrested if his guns were simply in locked cases, or if he possessed a NJ Firearm Owner’s Identification Card, which not being a resident of NJ, he obviously did not possess.
Reininger’s attorney has serious issues with the way the search was conducted on his client’s vehicle and he is also upset that jurors were not told about a federal law which allows people who are traveling to transport guns through states which may have more restrictive gun laws. Although the transportation exemption also requires guns to be locked and inaccessible.
