W.Va. Teen Arrested After 'Almost Inciting Riot' Wearing NRA Shirt to School

A West Virginia teen arrested and accused of nearly inciting a riot after a confrontation with a teacher over his National Rifle Association t-shirt has inspired dozens of students across his county to wear similar apparel in solidarity.

Jared Marcum, 14, had a confrontation Thursday with a Logan Middle School teacher over his NRA t-shirt, which bears the organization's logo, along with an image of a hunting rifle and the phrase, "Protect your right."

Marcum's lawyer, Ben White, said that when the teen was told to remove the shirt or turn it inside out, he attempted to engage the teacher in a debate.

"Jared respects firearms and has training to use them, and believes in the Second Amendment," White told ABCNews.com. "He believes it's being threatened by current legislation. He wore [the shirt] as an expression of political speech and the need to protect the Second Amendment."

White said that Marcum had been wearing the shirt without causing any problems from homeroom at the beginning of the school day through fifth period, and was confronted by one of the school's teachers while getting his lunch. When Jared refused to remove or reverse the shirt, the teacher began to raise his voice, and it caught the attention of students eating their lunch, White said.

Where is America?

Written by: Samantha Blount

Each and every day most of us walk through life not thinking about the threats that are among us. At least not until that threat hits close to home. But, what happens when someone we love gets hurt? Do we stand by or do we prepare ourselves for the next attack? These are the questions we must ask ourselves.

The arguments in front of Congress right now, are futile to say the least. When America started, very smart men came up with a Constitution to keep the ‘Leaders’ from overstating their boundaries while also keeping the constituents in line. Everyone agreed because it was best for all parties and thus the ‘United’ States went into action. We were built working together.

Today, we must start to wonder where the ‘United’ has gone. Today, Wednesday Jan. 30th, the NRA went to support our rights against Congress. The arguments today are only around because of the tragic events surrounding our children. While these were travesties that can never be undone, weapons were not the reason behind it. ONE person committed this act, a gun cannot shoot itself.

Some will still disagree with this, saying that the massacre would have been less if he didn’t have a certain weapon or ammo. Truth be told, we can’t say this. Think about it this way, have we not outlawed drugs? What happened with those? Oh, that’s right, they are still on our street and corrupting our children. How can we throw guns out to Cartel members, but take away the lawful right to own them legally?

The moral of this, if we can’t stop it illegally then how can our legal protection be taken away?

This reaches further than the 2nd Amendment, this could be the beginning of the end.

No guns in America: An Unstoppable Government

I am a big fan of NBC's hit show Revolution. For those of you who have not watched it, it's basically about what our country would be like if the electricity stopped working. Government and society collapse, then militias start taking over. The militias on the show however aren't what you would call, in the best interest of the people. Instead powerful and violent criminals become leaders and people start dying when they protest.

Throughout the series you learn that under the militia's law firearms are illegal unless you are a member of the militia, punishable by death. As a result you are left with a corrupt "government" free to do as they wish without any threat of serious resistance. Normal citizens are left with the basics of weapons, sticks, stones, bows and arrows, knives. When rebels face off against the militia, they of course stand no chance of victory, and suffer defeat. The people live in fear, and this fear keeps them in line.

Too often we witness American's screaming for a prohibition on guns. "Ban them all" they say without actually evaluating the consequences of such a decision. Our government was established with a series of checks and balances. The second amendment was established to protect the people if those checks and balances fail. It is important that all American's understand the necessity of the second amendment no matter the century to ensure that our government doesn't gain the power to become the Britain of 1775.

Introduction

Welcome to the Second Amendment Journal. A blog dedicated to everything firearms. As a gun owner, strong supporter of the second amendment, and somebody who enjoys writing I felt that starting a blog would be a great opportunity for me. I often times find myself on social networks and news sites defending our individual right to own and in legal cases, carry firearms for sport, competition, and protection. Many instances have put me up against some serious liberals who feel that the second amendment is outdated and in serious need of removal. As American's we all have a right to our opinions. Additionally we have a right to free speech. With recent events taking place these people as well as heavily funded politicians with extreme gun control agendas are using terrible tragedies to fuel their war on guns. With over 300 million non-military firearms in the United States and the strength of the NRA and other Pro-Gun groups they have a tough battle ahead of them, but their misled beliefs can be dangerous. As gun owners it is our responsibility to defend the right our forefathers gave us when this country was founded. Whether you use firearms for sport, for competitive shooting, or protection they serve a necessary purpose no matter what century we are in. Our government shall never disarm its citizens. When they try, the very reason for the existence of the second amendment will undoubtedly come into play. I'll end this post with one of my favorite quotes ever, "When seconds count, the Police are only minutes away." Thank you for stopping by. Please feel free to subscribe and check back often.
