Disarm Law Abiding Citizens - The Insanity of the Left

Gun control advocates across the country including Senator Angus King (I-ME) are demanding that legislation be passed that limits magazine capacity to 10 rounds. They don’t feel civilians have a need for high capacity magazines. I can respect their opinion, I can even have a civilized debate with them about it, but I cannot agree on it.

It should bother you that individuals within our government are stating “civilians have no need” when speaking about something that pertains to a RIGHT. If those same individuals were saying “civilians have no need for freedom of speech” or “civilians have no need for privacy” there would be anarchy in the streets.

You must remember the 2nd Amendment was AFFIRMED not granted by the very first government of the United States to ensure that the people had adequate arms to defend themselves against tyranny by the government. The same tyranny that they fought against when the British began conducting warrantless searches and seizures of arms from the colonists and militias that led to our independence.

Some feel the Bill of Rights is antiquated and that as a civilized society we no longer have to live in fear of a tyrannical government. In fact those same people feel we should leave every aspect of our safety both foreign and domestic in the hands of the government. These people fail to realize that every fallen nation and empire was thought to be a civilized society at the time of their demise. The more power they placed in the hands of their government, the less freedom they enjoyed.

Modern day America suffers from Stockholm Syndrome. Too many citizens place too much trust in the government. They believe that government at all times has our best interest at heart. They fail to realize that freedom is but one generation away from extinction at all times. It is our job to ensure the government toes the line and remains a body of the people and for the people.

You’re probably wondering by now what this all has to do with high capacity magazines. Well I hate to upset some of those firearm hating individuals but it has everything to do with it. On the sole basis that the 2nd Amendment’s inherent purpose is to protect the populace from a tyrannical government one has to question, if the “civilians have no need” for high capacity magazines then why do law enforcement and the military have a need for them? Now I’m not advocating the 10 round limit for everyone including law enforcement and the military. In fact I staunchly oppose any such move. I’m simply stating that if high capacity magazines serve a purpose for those in authority, then civilians most definitely have a need for them in order to maintain the balance of peace, not war.

I understand that the US military has far more superior weapons than AR-15s with 30 round magazines. I also understand that if the government became tyrannical the odds of successfully defending ourselves against the government would be extremely low. That in itself is the basis of my argument. The citizens of this country should fight tooth and nail to protect the one thing that would at least give us a fighting chance. Rather than voluntarily surrender our freedom for a false sense of security we should be standing united against any such move to degrade our defenses.

There will always be evil people in this world that choose to commit heinous acts of violence. We can’t allow that evil to win by attacking the rights of others to fight back against those people. The government telling us that we don’t need high capacity magazines is like the NFL telling the Patriots they only get two downs when they play, but all their opponents still get the usual four.

If you are one of the people who wholeheartedly believes that we have nothing to fear from our government I urge you to simply look across the globe. Those with limited rights are not free. Many are in a constant state of civil war. There is no incentive for a government to do right by their people when they have total control over their population. No matter how advanced and civilized a society may be, there is always the need for the right of the people to keep and bear arms. Not necessarily to fight against the government on the battlefield but rather to maintain the balance of harmony that makes America the only true free nation in the world.
